Cyberpunk definiton: Cyberpunk is a science fiction genre noted for its focus on 'high tech" and "low life". Cyberpunk plots often center on a conflict among hackers, artificial intelligence, and megacoporations, and tend to be set in a near future Earth. "Classic cyberpunk characters were marginalized, alienated loners who lived on the edge of society in generally dystopic futures where daily life was impacted by rapid technological change, an ubiquitous datasphere of computerized information, and invasive modification of the human body." Also in cyberpunk writing there are protagonists. These include computer hackers, who are often patterned on the idea of the lone hero fighting injustice.

Book: The Stars My Destination is set in a future where humans now can live on many different planets. Also the technology has greatly increased and now humans can jaunt which means that they can teleport from one place to another. In the book Gully Foyle the main character can be considered a low life because he was lazy and very unmotivated and not special in any way. Also i believe that Presteign represents a megacoporation because Presteign controls a lot of things. Up above in the quote when it says "and invasive modification of the human body" reminds me of Gully because he had every nerve rewired in his body so he could be a fighting machine. And cyberpunk includes a main character that is like a lone hero. This to me is Gully. He is the main character and he is fighting for his own injustice.
